More than 40 years on the job, he was dubbed Boston’s “quintessential radio news anchor and radio news director.” Rod Fritz has received numerous awards including the Associated Press and Radio Television News Directors Awards and the distinguished Tom Phillips Award from United Press International. Twice, he was elected by his fellow journalists as President of the Massachusetts AP Broadcasters Association.

In addition to serving as news anchor at WBZ Radio from 2007 – 2018, he has held key positions at all of the most prominent radio news stations in Boston. His strong and credible voice is known to listeners throughout the Boston area.
