One of the most recognized, trusted, newsman and anchor in the history of Boston television, Jack has been a major presence on the Boston market for more than 35 years. Still co-anchoring, he is particularly remembered for his earlier work at WBZ-TV with Tony Pepper and later with Liz Walker where they teamed on both the 6 PM and 11 PM newscasts from early ’80s until 1992. A native of Idaho, he built his own home radio station at the age of thirteen and by age 15 had become an announcer at a local radio station. In 1964, he was already a news reporter and anchor in Eugene Oregon, simultaneously earning a degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon and graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in journalism. A man of considerable wit with an engaging on air presence, Jack is also the founder of “Wednesday’s Child,” a non-profit adoption agency for special-needs kids. His work in this area has received dozens of awards, including recognition from President Ronald Reagan (Presidential Citation, 1986) and President Bill Clinton (Adoption 2002 Excellence Award, 1997).
