Arthur J. “Art” Singer co-founded the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame and served as its first President.

As the 2026 MA Broadcasters Hall of Fame Pioneer Award-winner, he is being recognized as “a broadcaster who has distinguished himself over decades for lasting contributions made to the broadcast industry and through a leadership role in his particular craft.”

Art began his career as a radio documentary writer and on-air host at WBUR in Boston, and over the years, he worked at radio and TV stations in Hartford, Washington, and Schenectady, NY.

In 1981, he became General Manager of New Hampshire Public Television (NHPTV). Over the next 14 years, he and his staff transformed NHPTV into a major regional media voice and one of the most successful public networks in the country.

In 1997, Art returned home to Boston and served as Associate Vice President for Television, Radio, and Film at Emerson College until 2005. He led the development of many new Emerson facilities, including a cutting-edge storefront studio for WERS-FM, and brought live TV broadcasting capability to the restored Cutler Majestic Theater.

His lasting legacy will be his vision for honoring broadcasters in the Hall of Fame.
