Paul LaCamera

La Camera was part of the management team which established WCVB-TV as what the New York Times described as “the best local television station in America.”

Paul LaCamera has been known as a visionary television and radio manager in the Boston area for 38 years. He held various management roles at WCVB-TV from its sign-on in 1972 through 1994, during which time he contributed significantly to the reconstitution of Channel 5, one of Boston’s heritage television channels. La Camera was part of the management team which established WCVB-TV as what the New York Times described as “the best local television station in America,” a distinction based on the station’s pioneering local programming and community service, the hallmark of which remains today in its nightly “Chronicle” program.

Paul capped his career there by assuming the role of President and CEO from 1994 to 2005. After his retirement from WCVBTV, LaCamera became General Manager of WBUR FM from 2005 to 2010, where he oversaw the station’s continued audience growth, maintained its traditions of journalistic excellence and established an enviable level of fiscal stability in a publicly-supported broadcast outlet. He now serves as University Administrator for Public Radio at Boston University, the trustee of the WBUR license.
